POL (2002)

In collaboration with Marcel·lí Antúnez
Pol is a mechatronic story, an ironic and poetic fable for all audiences. It is a scenic mutation that results from the dialogue among machines, images, sounds and interpreters. At first, Pol was inspired in the European popular fables. We chose this genre because of its narrative characteristics, and not to stick to a tradition or to show nostalgia for children stories. These stories’ simple structure has a rhythm and a series of magic, unexpected and bewildering events that make them very appropriate for the making of a personal graphic universe and to set sudden keys in the results of this show’s interactions. Pol is not based on any particular popular story. This story shows the rough voyage of a rabbit searching for love. The loss of its teeth, a biological event of childhood and a physiological change which is similar to the changes the body experiences in other stages of life, becomes one of the reasons for its voyage. The other reason is to search for its beloved one.

APHASIA (1998)

In collaboration with Marcel·lí Antúnez
The action in Aphasia takes place on a rectangle shaped stage divided by a big overhead projector screen. At the front of the stage there are four musical robots with the shapes of a guitar, a drum, a group of “grallas” and a violin. Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca, the only interpreter, is dressed with a metal exoskeleton body interface he calls “dreskeleton”, which allows his body movements and the control of the switches to become computer orders. Aphasia, a term that means alteration of the spoken or written language caused by brain damage, is the title that summarises the particular interpretation Marcel·lí does of Homer’s Odyssey.
